K&N Cold Air Intakes add heat shields and use a tube that extends beyond the engine bay away from the heat of the engine to maximize cool air. This is a key ingredient for horsepower. Included in this Typhoon Air Intake System, like all other K&N Air Intake Systems is a high-flow air filter (RU-4990) designed to provide increased surface area. The heat shield isolates the K&N Air Filter from the engine compartment and allows the K&N Air Filter to receive a consistent flow of fresh cool air.
